Ms. Trafton

Ms. Rose Trafton is the principal of Ocean Day School, a private non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Ms. Trafton is very proud that the student body reflects the diversity found today in American society. Her philosophy is that every child has something to contribute and she strongly encourages children and their parents to contribute to the school's nurturing educational environment. Ms. Trafton is dedicated to ensuring that Ocean Day School students are ready to meet the demands of today's and tomorrow's world.

Ms.Trafton has made positive changes to the curriculum. Changes include placing computers with internet access in every classroom, partnering with local educational and business organizations, and incorporating only nutritional foods into the schools lunch and snack programs.

In 1981, Ms. Trafton earned Bachelor of Art degrees in History and Legal Studies from Quinnipiac College, Hamden, Connecticut. She earned a Juris Doctorate in 1984 from Franklin Pierce Law Center, Concord, New Hampshire.  She is licensed to practice law in New Hampshire, Virginia, and New Jersey.  Ms. Trafton continued her education after law school and earned an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida in 1993.  In 2006, Ms. Trafton became certified as a New Jersey Elementary School Principal.  

Prior to her current position, Ms. Trafton was a civilian attorney with the United States Navy Office of General Counsel. Ms. Trafton is also an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve having obtained the rank of Captain.
